Luke 9:28-56

Jesus is preparing for His death. He took Peter, John, and James to a mountain spot for prayer. There Jesus receives a visit from Elijah and Moses. They talked about the coming events. Peter, John, and James wake up from a nap to see Jesus in this conversation. His appearance has changed. Jesus is showing the glory of God. They hear Father God speak about His favor for Jesus. We see their personal relationship in a spiritual context. In Luke 9:37-43, the power of God is seen in Jesus’ authority over demons. Again Jesus prepares His followers for His coming death. Jesus describes servant leadership as a value of the Kingdom of God. Therefore, humility should be what we expect from anyone who identifies as a Christian.
