1 Corinthians 14:20-40
We are called to grow in our understanding of God’s Kingdom and our role in it. This includes our understanding of the ways in which our local church may be as helpful as possible, to that end. This also includes the function of spiritual gifts. Each should strengthen the church, bringing encouragement. Paul provides a helpful distinction between the gifts of tongues and prophecy. He explains the importance of believers’ gatherings that are conducted in a way as to be as helpful as possible. We should avoid practices that cause confusion. “Let love be your highest goal.” Verses 34-35 are addressing specific people causing distraction.
