New Things

What if Sunday mornings were more interactive? We want you to know that you can pray and receive prayer at any time, during any Sunday worship experience. This may be up at the altar or anywhere in the sanctuary. Worship leaders and teachers may lead us in prayer at any time during our services. You may also recall some moments when the preacher asks for verbal responses to particular questions. This year we will spend most Sundays looking at New Testament letters. We will give some Wednesdays to studying those passages in advance of teaching them, on Sundays. In this way, we can learn together. In March we focus on Colossians, and in April – May we look at Galatians. This is not an academic exercise. We’re following Jesus together. Life is a journey and we are a church family for that journey. Let’s do this together. We may have different learning styles. If you would like suggestions beyond what we will do together, here a couple. For the April – May focus on Galatians:Traveling Light by Eugene Peterson. We will not necessarily reference these or ask people to follow along with them. They’re just additional resources you may enjoy.

Pastor’s Weekly

Last Sunday was a milestone for us as a church family. We taught about the meaning of the words “deacon” and “elder”, found in Scripture. We honored our deacons and set in new elders. Two of our existing elders are retiring. We have been so grateful for the years of faithful service from Jack Louman, Steve Stells, Lanny Hubbard, and Howard Rachinski. Now, Lanny Hubbard and myself continue serving as elders along with Rebecca Malmin, Chris Vazquez, Joe and Anna Talaiver (who have all been on our Financial Stewardship Team for years).

This Week

Bible Study Workshop Tonight

The Fellowship Hall is open at 6:00 pm for Church Family Dinner and/or to hang out before small groups and CHC Youth start at 7:00 pm. If we all work together to clean up after dinner at 6:50 pm, there may be no need for it after our gathering.

Please bring your Bible and favorite Bible study tools. We’re going to start an interactive workshop idea that will allow for a variety of methods. In this new experiment, we hope you are inspired anew for individual activity. There will be some Wednesdays when we break into smaller groups for cooperative stuff. What have been the most meaningful ways of interacting with Scripture for you?

CHC Youth Night Tonight

CHC Youth meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm at the church for a time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study.
