Sharing Life Together
Pastor’s Weekly
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. — James 1:17-18
I enjoy reading the poetry of this verse but its meaning is so encouraging and life-giving! God never changes, you can trust Him! His most good and perfect gift to us, Jesus, is such a marvelous thing for us to celebrate through Christmas! As I pause to ask God what more to write, he is telling me that he wants you to take a moment to stop the last minute shopping, organizing and the sometimes frenetic pace we can find ourselves in this time of year, to breathe and contemplate the fact that YOU are his prized possession! You make him smile! Abba, Daddy God loves YOU! Praying that the Love and Peace of God overshadows everything else this week. — Pastor Rebecca
HUMC’s Christmas Eve Services
If you are interested in attending a Christmas Eve service this year, our facility partner will be holding two different services on Christmas Eve:
Tuesday, December 24th, 4:00 pm, Christmas Eve Family Service: All of those in attendance who are young or young in heart are invited to participate in our reenactment of the story of Jesus’s birth, narrated by Pastor Galen. Listen as the angels proclaim the Good News of Christ’s birth to the shepherds watching their flocks in the fields. Journey with the Magi to Bethlehem to visit Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus. Then, join us for light refreshments and birthday cake, as we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. All are welcome!
Tuesday, December 24th, 7:00 pm, Traditional Christmas Eve Service: The promise of the Messiah and the birth of Jesus is told through short Bible readings interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols and hymns. Instrumentation will include piano, cello, flute, and trumpet.
