Sunday Church Service
We are looking forward to our Sunday church service this Sunday, September 4th, at 9am! We would enjoy hearing from anyone who has found this Love Speaks series helpful. Please consider sharing a three minute message about it on Sunday. If you missed last week’s message, you can watch it here on CHC’s Facebook page or listen to the recording here. City Kids Class will meet this Sunday!
There may be No Parking signs along Falls Road this Sunday morning for a cycling event. The event starts up in the county at 1pm. We cannot predict if BPD parking authority will enforce this during the morning hours. There is a parking lot at the ACE school nearby at 1300 W 36th Street Baltimore, MD 21211.
City Kids Update
Starting Sunday, September 11th, City Kids will have a new class format. Parents and volunteers should have received an email with detailed information about these upcoming changes. If you have any questions or if you are interested in joining the CK Volunteer Team, please contact Anna Talaiver.

Good to Know
Bible College Classes
Portland Bible College classes are available online. You can take classes for credit or simply for the sake of learning (independent study). You will see that the Basic Doctrine class Pastor Ben mentioned on Sunday is listed here among the beginning classes.
Helping Families New to Baltimore
After consideration from our elders and leaders, we have decided to partner with an organization of churches to support Afghan families who are newly arrived in Baltimore. In addition to making a financial contribution, our church would also like to help assist these families in additional ways. If you are interested in donating furniture please contact Aaron Mayhew at info@loveaaco.org or (443) 848-3417.
Food Pantry and Church Welcome Area
Hampden UMC is the host site for a food pantry effort between several area churches. For a variety of reasons, they will no longer be taking in food from one source that required the locked doors and extra reporting. This will make it possible to open up more of a “welcome area” in that space. To supplement the previous food source they would welcome the donation of dry goods and nonperishable food such as pasta, rice, and canned foods. Such items can be brought in on a Sunday. After our service, please be careful to place the items on a table in that area in a way that’s easy for organization.
Daily Bible Reading
Every day this year, Pastor Ben is sharing a daily suggested reading of a few verses from a Psalm or Proverb. The Psalms are a collection of songs exalting God. It serves as a book of prayer and praise. The Psalms help us in our relationship with God. The Proverbs help us in our relationship with this world, in our daily life. The daily readings can be found here or received as a daily email. Click here to subscribe to receive the daily posts via email.
Pastor’s Weekly
“Let all that I am praise the Lord!” Come on, we can sing wholeheartedly to God the praise from Psalm 104. Consider the awesome power of the natural world and the order of its function. Our God has lovingly created it by design. A starry night sky speaks of this Creator God, like a conductor directing the points of light you see. There is a melody (and a complimenting harmony) to the way that all created living things live. Sure, there is brokenness in our world. And yet there is also a majesty to it all. So much of this natural world is far beyond our complete comprehension and control. Let us praise God, heart, and soul!
