CHC Fun Night, Wednesday, June 4th
Wednesday Life Groups will look a little different on Wednesday, June 4th. The Fellowship Hall will still be open at 6:00 pm for people to eat their dinner and fellowship. Starting at 7:00 pm, we will have a short time of sharing testimonies and answers to prayers (kids can share too!). Afterward, there will be group games and activities for City Kids (Middle School students can participate or help out), and board/card games available for the grown ups (and youth) to play. If possible, please bring your favorite board/card game (max 30-45 min gameplay time) with you so we can have plenty of options.
Pentecost Sunday Service, June 8th
This year’s multi-church Pentecost Sunday service is on June 8th, at 10:00 am, at Coppin State University’s James Weldon Johnson Auditorium. We remember the birth of the church, in Acts 2, and celebrate with 10 churches. It will replace our 9 am service that Sunday. Please feel free to invite people, and use the website: https://www.
Growing fellowship between believers across Baltimore is one of our goals. To that end, please arrive early enough to meet new people as you make the walk of 5 to 10 minutes from parking to the auditorium. We want it to be easy for you to recognize someone who lives in the same area of Baltimore City. All churches will be distributing name badges that will have a color to match each City Council district and one color for county residents. All churches will also be promoting the fellowship idea of a tailgate bring your own lunch, in the parking lot after the service. Please participate in meeting new people and fellowship. We believe this will be encouraging and well worth the effort. We can park in both Lots B and C. We will have signs and people outside (even if it’s raining).
If you want to volunteer with the parking lot, greeting, or set up, please arrive that Sunday by 8:45 am for preparation. There will be no childcare available in a separate room, but there will be some family carpeted areas available in the room on a first come first serve basis.
CHOIR INFO: We want all churches to participate in the choir. Please sign up using this link. Please also let Chris know if you want to participate, and he will send you the songs for preparation. Please note that they have moved the last choir rehearsal to Coppin State. Attending the following practices is required to participate in the choir: Vocal Rehearsal: May 31st, 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Saint Moses Church. Dress Rehearsal: June 7th, 4:00-7:00 pm at Coppin State. Choir Call Time on June 8th: 8:45 am at Coppin State.
Summer Kickoff Cookout at the Balmans, June 11th
Matt and Shanna are hosting a church-wide cookout at their home on Wednesday, June 11th, starting at 5:30 pm. They will be providing brats, hotdogs, vegan brats, and banana pudding! Be on the lookout for an email next week with more details as well as a sign-up list to bring sides.
Men’s Campout, June 13-14th, RSVP to Pastor Rebecca
The men are invited to a campout at Ben and Kristen’s home on Friday, June 13th – Saturday, June 14th. Dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday will be provided. To help offset the cost of food, we’re asking for attendees to contribute $3 per day that they will be attending (Friday OR Saturday – $3,00; Friday AND Saturday – $6.00). Please pay via the CHC Cash App link above or you can pay Pastor Rebecca directly. Please RSVP by June 1st to Pastor Rebecca via email rebecca@cityharborchurch.com.
Sharing Life Together
Pastor’s Weekly
Psalm 66 is powerful! It may be helpful to read it and reflect on it this week. This song has been sung by people gathered to worship God together. Colossians 3:16 gives us a clear picture of Jesus-followers singing the Psalms together as an essential part of being “Christian” and expressing gratitude to God. This is singing out loud together and thanking God for specific things already done for us. God has shown us love by sending Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Psalm 66:16 describes all believers singing together and inviting others to listen to the words so that they would know what we believe about God. There is a specific purpose for our singing on Sundays. Thanksgiving for the Good News by singing out loud together passionately!
