What’s New?
Special Thursday Life Group
Bring your gardening gloves and tools! We’re going to bless the Weybrights by helping them catch up on some of their Spring gardening. It’s supposed to be 72 degrees and no rain that day so we’ll stay outside for the entire Life Group. If you are able to, come as early as 6:30pm to get started. Once we’re done gardening, we’ll hang out, talk and play some outdoor games. We’ll have a big jug of ice water for drinking and if anyone wants to bring snacks you are welcome to. If you aren’t physically able to garden or can’t get there until later, come be with us anyway! We’ll all pack up and leave when it starts to get dark at 8:00pm.
Sunday, June 5th Outdoor Service
Sunday June 5th, is Pentecost Sunday and we will join several churches that we are friends with, by coming together for a special service outdoors starting at 10 am. This will be in place of our Sunday service. There will be no activity available at our building that Sunday morning, June 5th. Please let us know by Saturday June 4th, if you would like a ride there.
Gallery Church facilities, restrooms, water supply etc will be open and available for all participants. It will be a wonderful outdoor worship service with multiple people participating in leading, including several languages, and a message. There is no children’s ministry separate from the large group. It’s a family service. Kids will have access with parents to worship resources.
Please allow extra time for parking as there will be a good number of people attending. The outdoor courtyard is right next to the building. There is street parking right next to the courtyard. It can be confusing the first time you drive to this spot. The map and further info can be found here. Please look at it before you start driving Sunday morning, June 5th. https://
City Kids End of School Carnival
Save the date! On Saturday, June 11th, CHC children and their families are invited to a special event celebrating the beginning of the summer break. More details will be announced shortly.

Sunday Church Service
We are looking forward to our in-person church service Sunday, May 29th, at 9am! This Sunday we will celebrate the love of God in our worship and with a time of communion. There will also be time available to share answers to prayer. We also offer a livestream of the service, available on our church’s Facebook page. The livestream will appear at 9am on Sunday mornings and will be available to watch later as well.
City Kids Class
We are excited to minister to your children this Sunday! Please use this form to sign up your children (age 3yr – 4th grade) for class. The City Kids ministry needs more volunteers! If you are interested in joining the City Kids Volunteer Team please contact Anna Talaiver.
After Church Fellowship
If the weather is nice this Sunday after church, let’s hangout again! We’ll plan to meet up near the playground across the street from church, this coming Sunday morning after the service. There will be a small table set up with drinking water, hand sanitizer, napkins, plastic cups, plasticware, etc to help anyone who wants to bring their own food/drinks. In this way, we could facilitate a little more of the wonderfully positive social time that has been happening after service. It is wheelchair accessible. We still have access to our church bathrooms on Sundays.

Good to Know
Food Pantry and Church Welcome Area
Hampden UMC is the host site for a food pantry effort between several area churches. For a variety of reasons, they will no longer be taking in food from one source that required the locked doors and extra reporting. This will make it possible to open up more of a “welcome area” in that space. To supplement the previous food source they would welcome the donation of dry goods and nonperishable food such as pasta, rice, and canned foods. Such items can be brought in on a Sunday. After our service, please be careful to place the items on a table in that area in a way that’s easy for organization.
Daily Bible Reading
Every day this year, Pastor Ben is sharing a daily suggested reading of a few verses from a Psalm or Proverb. The Psalms are a collection of songs exalting God. It serves as a book of prayer and praise. The Psalms help us in our relationship with God. The Proverbs help us in our relationship with this world, in our daily life. The daily readings can be found here or received as a daily email. Click here to subscribe to receive the daily posts via email.
Pastor’s Weekly
With shouting and singing, we should publicly declare the goodness of our God. Psalm 66 reminds us of God miraculously parting the Red Sea and providing safe passage for the Israelites. God protected them from the Egyptians. God is our ultimate provider and help in time of need. Reminding ourselves of this helps with gratitude. Expressing this thankfulness will bring wisdom to our perspective. It helps to alleviate stress and improve our state of mind.
