Life Group Tomorrow Night
This week, Life Group will be held on Thursday night at 7pm, at the Weybrights’ home. Hope to see you there!
This Saturday, August 27th, at 1pm, a memorial service will be held at the church facility for a couple of Hampden neighbors. We would welcome two volunteers to assist the family in bringing their flowers and decorations from the curbside into the sanctuary and setting up (likely arriving at noon). If the two volunteers are able to stay to serve as ushers that would be perfect. If not, we would also welcome two volunteers to do so starting at 12:45pm. The service should be from 1pm to 2pm at the latest. There will be no food etc, as the graveside will be in Aberdeen. Please contact Pastor Ben if you are interested in volunteering.
Sunday Church Service
We are looking forward to our Sunday church service this Sunday, August 28th, at 9am! We will be praying for students, parents and teachers as they begin the new school year. If you missed last week’s message, you can watch it here on CHC’s Facebook page or listen to the recording here. City Kids Class will meet this Sunday! Please use this link to sign up your children for class.
City Kids Surprise Bubble Party
Our City Kids have been doing a great job memorizing Bible verses! To celebrate their hard work and the beginning of the school year, we are throwing them a surprise bubble party after church on Sunday at the playground across the street. The kids will find out about the bubble party during church on Sunday, so please help us keep it a surprise until then.

Good to Know
Helping Families New to Baltimore
After consideration from our elders and leaders, we have decided to partner with an organization of churches to support Afghan families who are newly arrived in Baltimore. In addition to making a financial contribution, our church would also like to help assist these families in additional ways. If you are interested in donating furniture please contact Aaron Mayhew at email@example.com or (443) 848-3417.
Food Pantry and Church Welcome Area
Hampden UMC is the host site for a food pantry effort between several area churches. For a variety of reasons, they will no longer be taking in food from one source that required the locked doors and extra reporting. This will make it possible to open up more of a “welcome area” in that space. To supplement the previous food source they would welcome the donation of dry goods and nonperishable food such as pasta, rice, and canned foods. Such items can be brought in on a Sunday. After our service, please be careful to place the items on a table in that area in a way that’s easy for organization.
Daily Bible Reading
Every day this year, Pastor Ben is sharing a daily suggested reading of a few verses from a Psalm or Proverb. The Psalms are a collection of songs exalting God. It serves as a book of prayer and praise. The Psalms help us in our relationship with God. The Proverbs help us in our relationship with this world, in our daily life. The daily readings can be found here or received as a daily email. Click here to subscribe to receive the daily posts via email.
What is more valuable than any object you possess? The experience of helping a family who has lost their home will cause you to think about it, at some point. Here Proverbs suggests that words of wisdom may be more valuable than any of your possessions. Wow! So, where do we find wisdom? Let us be sure to follow the guidance of God. We will be more at peace if we recognize the guidance of our God and seek out wise counsel.
