This Week
CHC COVID-19 Town Hall Tomorrow Night
Tomorrow, Thursday, March 18th at 7:00 pm, we will be hosting a CHC Town Hall Zoom meeting. The Safe Place Team will present information about COVID-19, current metrics, potential return to in-person services and next steps. There will also be an opportunity for church members to ask questions and provide input about the church’s upcoming plans. If you have any questions that you would like to submit ahead of time, please send them to info@cityharborchurch.com with the subject line: “Town Hall Questions.” Please take some time to review the COVID-19 information posted on our website here.
Grocery Distribution This Weekend
Please join us this weekend, on Saturday, March 20th, to assist with our grocery distribution in the parking lot behind the Waverly YMCA (The Weinberg Y) on 33rd St. We are activating the network of more than a dozen non-profits and churches to ensure that the food gets to people in need. We need volunteers to greet people, direct traffic, carry boxes, and drivers to deliver boxes to homes or nearby assisted living facilities. We ask that volunteers arrive at 9:15 am to help unload the truck. Please bring your own mask, drinking water, snack, and work gloves. The grocery distribution will begin at 10:30 am, and 575 pre-sorted boxes of groceries will be given away. This will be our only distribution in March. Please continue to pray for our efforts in organizing this continued effort.

Pastor’s Weekly
In Luke chapter one, Mary and Elizabeth are experiencing miraculous pregnancies. God is speaking to them. Believing the promises of God, they are truly blessed. Elizabeth expressed feeling honored by Mary’s visit. There is companionship and mutual respect. Elizabeth points out that Mary’s blessing has come because Mary believed that God would fulfill His promise. Mary sings praises to God. This song should be known to us. It carries relevant truth. We hear humility. We hear an account of an all-powerful and supernaturally merciful God. We hear about a God who keeps His promises. This is what she knew to be true of God our Creator. Mary expresses a wonderful understanding of the Kingdom of God throughout the song. The Kingdom of God is powerful, eternal, with a unique value system that is merciful, exalting the humble, putting down the proud, and bringing about the promise given to Abraham.

Ways to Share the Journey
Pastor Ben has been talking about the value of sharing our spiritual journey of following Jesus with others. Each of us has people in our lives that God wants us to invite into these next steps. These books listed below (some have a question and answer format) serve as helpful tools for these conversations. These books can be found in multiple formats (hard copy, ebook, etc). Please let Pastor Ben know if you have any questions about the books or if you need other book recommendations on additional topics.
- The Purple Book by Rice Brooks and Steve Murrell
- No Perfect People Allowed by John Burke
- Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Pete Scazzero (contact Kristen Faroe to join the ongoing book discussion)
- Life’s Healing Choices by John Baker
- Stepping Out of Denial Into God’s Grace by John Baker
- Every Good Endeavor by Timothy Keller
Our church has free Bibles available to whomever needs one. If you prefer to pick one for yourself, here is a website that the church has bought study Bibles from at a great price.
