Matthew 5:43-48; 6:1-24

Jesus described the Father as perfect, in Matthew 5, and gave us a response in Matthew 6. Jesus calls his followers to a genuine love for other people. Father God has shown perfect love to us and we should reflect this love to others. We should do this for people without expecting anything in return. We should do this for people who oppose us. Jesus describes three actions of His followers: giving, praying, fasting. These are personal spiritual disciplines and not things done for show. These things are to be done out of gratitude to God. They reveal the focus of our hearts and our value system. Jesus teaches good stewardship and a courageous generosity approach to how we should use money.
