June 6 Psalm 70 Acts 3 2 Samuel 9; 10

Psalm 70

David is on the run from Saul, who is trying to kill him, and yet he sings his prayerful request that God would be his helper and rescuer. We should learn from the millions of people who have found spiritual strength in their relationship with God. Many volumes have been written about what they have learned. David’s repeated call to God for help is a prayer and a song. Musicians taught this song to people so that their relationship with God would grow as a result. At this time, they knew the rest of David’s story…God is the source of miracles.

Acts 3

Peter and John saw a man, who had been unable to walk since birth, receive a miracle. Through faith in Jesus, his legs were strengthened and he was no longer paralyzed. This was a public miracle at the Temple, which gave Peter an opportunity to explain it. He described the forgiveness and new spiritual life available by faith in Jesus as Messiah. The believers experiencing all of this, described the blessing of Jesus as being that which turned them away from their mistakes. It gave them the ability to leave their toxic selfishness behind.

2 Samuel 9; 10

King David shows God’s miracle level of grace and love. He continued his commitment to peace by not seeking revenge on the descendants of the former king Saul who had turned enemy to him. Saul tried to kill him. Instead, David honored Saul’s sole surviving grandson who was unable to walk. David’s decision here was shaped by the character of God. It was a miracle of provision for this grandson.
