Mark 13:32-37; 14:1-16

Jesus instructs us to live in a confident hope expecting His return. Jesus says that only Father God knows when Christ will return to earth. Jesus makes it clear that we are not to be focused on the date that it will occur. We’re instructed to watch for Him. Let’s be spiritually alert. It is possible that Jesus taught His followers in this way to guide them into a personal relationship with Him that would help them keep an eternal perspective in the days to come. The religious leaders of Jerusalem were looking for an opportunity to kill Him. Simon had been healed of leprosy by Jesus. People who had found healing and hope in Jesus responded to Him with gratitude. They had learned that God cared about the anguish of their souls. Jesus saw the sacrifice of expensive perfume as anointing, in preparation for burial, and a meaningful show of appreciation. Jesus led their preparation for their Passover meal. The atonement made available by God was always a priority in Jesus’ teaching and ministry.
