James 4
We should love God more than we love pleasure. The humility that comes from this brings peace and freedom. Let us abandon a me-first lifestyle. This will take us away from jealous arguments, gossip, and self-righteous judgment of others. We draw strength from our relationship with God, as we humble ourselves, confessing our wrong, and asking for forgiveness and help. We turn away from our wrong and move toward a close personal relationship with God. We become fully devoted followers of Christ, in community. We choose to resist our spiritual enemy. We receive grace from God and respond by freely giving it away to others. In this way, we can avoid sins of commission and omission. God gives us the ability to live in a healthy relationship with Him and others. We can choose to receive this gift.
