Psalm 109:21-31
David is not afraid to sing to the Lord, about his blues. David turns his focus away from people who are cursing him and looks to the God of faithful love instead. An object of ridicule, David appeals to the good character of God, asking for rescue. Over the years David has seen God helping people in need. David has been fasting and in prayer through a difficult time. Regardless of God’s response, David commits to continued thanksgiving to the Lord, for the way He has stood by the poor and defended them. David is praising God before seeing an answer to the prayer.
