Hebrews 9:15
“Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.” – Hebrews 9:15 ESV
List of Covenants
- Edenic – Made with Adam & Eve (before sin)
- Adamic – Made with Adam & Eve & all creatures (after sin) expressing his purpose in redemption
- Noahic – After the flood, involving all creatures and all future generations of mankind. It confirms and ads to God’s purpose as stated in the Edenic Covenant
- Abrahamic – Made with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. It involves Israel and all believers of all nations.
- Mosaic – Made with Israel to point the way to Jesus Christ as Messiah and Savior of the World.
- Palestinian – Given to Israel after wandering for 40 years and before they entered the Promised Land. It gave conditions for entering and maintaining the promised land.
- Davidic – Made with David/Israel. Points to the everlasting Throne and Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- The New – made by Jesus immediately prior to His death. It became the fulfilment of all previous Covenants, making possible their everlasting elements. This covenant makes possible and brings the believer into the Everlasting Covenant.
- The Everlasting – Made in eternity before time began, between the Godhead (F, S, HS). It is all encompassing involving Creation & Redemption. It involves God’s purpose for man BEFORE the entrance of sin.
Between the Edenic Covenant and the New Covenant there was a continual cycle that happened between God and those he made covenants with: Covenant, Probation, Failure, and Judgement
By the time Jesus came the leaders of the Jewish nation had perverted and twisted the Mosaic Covenant by their traditions (Mark 7:1-15). They had become spiritually proud of their choice under the Abrahamic Covenant. They were characterized by hypocrisy, arrogance and lack of any spiritual perception.

Oath of the Covenant
Hebrews 6:16:20
‘Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.’
- God will follow through with his promises (blessings and cursing).
- We also take an oath: to love God, to obey, through relationship (friend of God)

The Spirit is God’s guarantee (seal) that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him. ‘
Jesus fulfills and is the New Covenant!
Covenant Purpose
The Everlasting Covenant is the purpose of God designed before the foundation of the earth
- The new covenant is based on our personal relationship with Jesus
- The more we know Christ the more the covenant will be worked out in us (Jn 14:6)
- What determines our future is the strength of our connection with (Jn 15:5)
- Christ became wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption for us (1 Cor 1:30)
What do I do?
- Think about the depth of the New covenant and how it impacts your life
- Spend time with thanksgiving and rejoicing over what Jesus did for you!
- Ask Jesus to help you keep your part of the covenant.
Revelation 1:18 I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Philippians 2:6-11 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
He has risen as he said!
