The Prayer of 4K Faith

Oct 16, 2022

God-focused-faith prompts prayer for others.
…even when we have not yet seen our own God-promise fulfilled.

Story time:
Genesis 12:1–3
Genesis 13:16
Genesis 15:2
Genesis 15:4–6
Genesis 15:18
Genesis 16:1–3
Genesis 17:1–6
Genesis 17:15–20
Genesis 18:10–14
Lot enters the story: Genesis 13:13; 14; 18:16–21

Abraham’s faith-response to hearing that nothing is impossible with God includes his intercession for his nephew Lot. Abraham asks God to show mercy on Sodom, sparing Lot who needed rescue from a place of pain, hopelessness, and toxic selfishness.

“Abraham approached him and said, ‘Will you sweep away both the righteous and the wicked?'” – Genesis 18:23

Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham and Sarah, that “all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.” – Acts 3:25–26

Jesus is the rescue. Jesus is a blessing to people of all nations.

God-focused-faith prompts prayer for others.
…even when we have not yet seen our own God-promise fulfilled.

Lot needed rescue from a place of toxic selfishness. Do we have people in our lives who need rescue from a place of toxic selfishness? Jesus is that rescue?

“We can approach God with confidence, honestly confessing our need and heart condition. At the same time, we can learn to speak faith and align our heart, emotions, and confession with the Word of God. We can learn to pray the prayer of faith.” – Wendell. Smith

The prayer of 4K faith is focused on God. It sees clearly who God is, hears clearly what God has said, and believes that anything is possible with God. Therefore it looks to specific changes that are possible only through God.

Faith is not: fantasy, superstition, or our ideas

Our faith must be focused on God.

Everyone can grow in God-focused-faith, by considering three questions and by praying for others.

3 Questions:
What did God say?
What does that tell us about who God is?
How should we respond?

What should we do?
1. Consider the answers to our three questions.
2. Pray, “I believe, God, you are in control. You saved us because you love us. You will be faithful to do what you said you would.”
3. Pray for people who need Jesus.
